Susanna Hailstone Walker

MSC, BPC, MBACP Psychotherapist and Counsellor

Book An Appointment With Susanna Hailstone Walker

Susanna specialises in adult and older adult mental health, and offers confidential face-to-face private counselling and psychotherapy.

She works with individuals to help them understand and resolve a wide range of emotional difficulties including depression and anxiety; trauma, abuse and bereavement; phobias, addictions and compulsive behaviours; sexuality and problems with relationships.

Susanna practices psychodynamically, which means helping people work through particularly complex and often unexplored issues, problems and fears.

In psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy, past experiences are as important as present ones. Our early lives - especially our childhood and relationships with parents and family shape our personalities, our way of thinking and behaving, and how we relate to other people. And sometimes those thoughts, feelings and patterns which start early can become the cause of problems later on.

Powerful feelings such as sadness, self-hatred, emptiness, inadequacy and worthlessness can be disturbing. Susanna's aim is to help you achieve a new and healthier perspective by better understanding the connection between your past and present, by highlighting the origins of your problems and by making better sense of who you are and why you've been feeling the way you do.

If you think Susanna might be able to help, the first step would be to meet for an initial consultation. The idea here would be to talk about what has brought you for therapy, begin to think about what counselling or psychotherapy might be like for you, and to decide how you and Susanna might work together. This could be on a focused short-term or on a longer term basis depending on your needs and means.

As well as private practice, Susanna works as an Honorary Psychotherapist in the NHS and she has a particular interest in psychiatric diagnoses such as personality disorders. She holds an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy is a registered member of the BACP and the BPC, and adheres to their codes of ethics, has regular supervision and believes in the importance of enhancing her training and knowledge base.
