Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist
Natasha qualified from the renowned College of Naturopathic Medicine after 3 years of studying, receiving a distinction in both Bio-Medicine and Naturopathic Nutrition.
Having overcome her own autoimmune thyroid disease herself and helping her husband put his rheumatoid arthritis into remission; she now has a keen interest in autoimmune conditions. Natasha understands that whilst genetics play an important part in autoimmune disease, having a genetic predisposition doesn’t mean you can’t be symptom-free, in remission, or avoid the disease altogether. Having three children each with these genetic predispositions, Natasha understands the power of epigenetics and the life changing effects it has. Following the right protocol tailored to your specific needs, can have a profound effect on your health outcome.
Whilst Natasha’s own health concerns initially took her down the autoimmune route, she has a broad area of health interests and is experienced in a vast array of health issues including women’s health (PCOS, fertility and pregnancy support, menopause), skin ailments, children’s health, weight loss, depression, metabolic and lifestyle mediated conditions (such as type 2 diabetes). She also believes in the value of disease prevention and health optimisation.
Natasha adopts a functional medicine approach. She does not treat the disease; she treats the whole person and passionately believes in the healing power of food. There are many drivers in chronic diseases: diet, toxins, pathogens, stress, lifestyle and environment. Often, it’s a combination of all of these things that leads to a chronic health condition and it takes a treatment plan addressing all of them to reclaim optimal health.
Traditional medicine can appear to take a black and white approach – if you don’t have a diagnosable disease, then you must be healthy. If your blood reference ranges are within the ‘normal’ range, you have nothing to worry about.
Functional medicine, however, recognises that you do not develop a disease overnight. We understand that there is a period of malfunctioning and disturbed physiology and biochemistry present in the developing period of illness, which may be several years in the making. During this period your blood reference ranges may appear normal in traditional medicine.
Natasha uses testing to get a better understanding of exactly where these perturbations are in the body, allowing her to intervene in a very specific way, to address these underlying causes of symptoms or illness, with the aim of restoring healthy function and in turn, optimal health.
Diagnostic testing when required, provides crucial information that forms the basis of Natasha’s treatment plans. Testing can include urine analysis and blood tests. Monitoring these results can show how effective the personalised treatment plan is. Testing is an additional cost.
As a fully qualified naturopathic nutritionist, Natasha is thrilled to be able to help people on their journey back to health. It brings her enormous satisfaction to unravel complex health issues and biochemistry – to get to the heart of her clients’ problems and to help support nutritional and lifestyle changes that have the ability to transform their health and wellbeing.
