Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) is a transformative therapy which aims to reduce the intensity of unwanted feelings, emotions and states in individuals who are seeking change.
IEMT focuses on a series of eye movements and questions to help facilitate change in unwanted emotions as well as undesirable behaviour traits – the eye movements appear to be linked to parts of the brain that are in charge of our memories and emotions.
A key difference between EMDR and IEMT is the fact that IEMT addresses identity imprints e.g ‘I am unworthy’ or ‘I am boring’ in order to facilitate deeper change.
Another difference and great benefit of IEMT is the fact that clients aren’t required to delve into the contents of the issue they want to work on, meaning there is less risk of being retraumatised.
IEMT can help clients who wish to work on a number of issues, including but not limited to:
-Anxiety
-Trauma
-PTSD
-Phobias
-Depression
-Issues with procrastination
-Anger issues
-Panic attacks
-Guilt
-Remorse
-Shame
IEMT can be used as a standalone therapy or alongside other therapies and modalities.
Long-term therapy isn’t required with IEMT, and clients usually report significant shifts after 2-3 sessions.
